I’m a shopaholic on a good day, but y’all, since being locked down due to COVID19 pandemic and maternity leave, my online shopping habit is at a whole new level. Our UPS delivery guy probably thinks I have a problem. I probably do. What do I shop for? I mean, everything from home decor to kitchen appliances. My favorite thing to shop for, however, is teeny tiny clothes for my little ladies. Actually, all kids’ clothes are fair game. I just love it. I’m wearing t-shirts from 2007, but my kids are getting deliveries three times a week.
Today I’m going to share a few of my favorite purchases I’ve made for my girls since they were born. Disclaimer: I have a LOT more favorites than this, but the post could get seriously lengthy, so you will probably see more posts like this in the future if you’re interested. Today I’m going to focus only on apparel, and all of it is available on Amazon.
Newborn and Baby Apparel
#1 Newborn hospital caps with big bows, because why on earth would you not put a big bow on your tiny baby’s tiny head?! And these are super soft, washable, and small so they actually fit the newborn noggins as opposed to some other “newborn hats” I’ve purchased. I bought this 4-pack and each of my girls got two, both of which ended up in their “newborn boxes” of stuff I’m saving for them.
#2 Swaddle and hat sets in beautiful prints for newborn photos in the hospital. We were gifted a set of three by my sister in law and got so many compliments from the nurses when Adeline wore the black one in the hospital. The blankets are very thin and stretchy so they were easy to swaddle and didn’t overheat my hot-blooded baby when she wore them. There are much pricier brands out there but these ones from Amazon were perfect and are affordable.
#3 A half birthday tulle tutu bodysuit and crown. Yes, I celebrated my baby’s “half birthday,” complete with a full-on photo shoot to commemorate the occasion. This bodysuit was soft, stretchy and adorable, with a soft (read: not itchy) tutu, and came with the super cute “1/2” crown headband to complete the look.
#4 These sleeveless bodysuit rompers come in a million different colors/prints and come in both infant and toddler sizes. I’ve bought them for both of my girls to do some matching outfits and they look equally adorable. They’re soft and stretchy, machine washable and come with a tie-front headband to match. Will definitely be buying more of these as they grow together.
Toddler Apparel
#5 The Grace & Lucille first birthday dress was not only adorable but I was shocked at how high quality it was. Amelia wore it and covered it in cake at her first birthday party, and it washed perfectly and stayed super soft.
#6 This sleeveless toddler tutu dress was another Amazon purchase I was really happy with. I bought it for Amelia’s DIY cake smash photoshoot we did at home on her first birthday and it was beautiful and soft. I did hand wash this one because I wanted it to keep and was afraid to put it in the machine, and it is now folded up in her baby box to save for her someday because I was so in love with it. I don’t see it available in the mauve color we purchased almost a year ago, but there’s a really fun blue, and classic gray or black.
#7 I’m obsessed with these pajamas (and Amelia loves them, too). They’re buttery soft and come in really beautiful colors. They have unisex and feminine options (with a ruffled edge), and are nice and long, so unlike a lot of our other 2T clothes, they don’t ride halfway up her calves while Amelia sleeps. Another thing I will continue to rebuy as she outgrows them.
#8 Rufflebutts swimsuits have to be the highest quality and most adorable swimwear for babies and toddlers ever. I love that they have long sleeved options that sip in the back for easy on/off, and that the material is UPF 50 rated so I can worry less about sunburns, because my girls are super fair-skinned. The thing I love the most about these is they have snap closures at the bottom for diaper changes. Why on earth all baby swimwear doesn’t have snaps for diaper changes is beyond me, but now that I’ve found these I’m never buying anything else until my girls are potty-trained.
#9 SwimZip UPF 50 hats are awesome because they have a drawstring cord in the back that allows you to fit it snugly to your kid’s head so they aren’t constantly pulling it off. Since birth, Amelia has hated anything on her head, so when she kept this on for a full afternoon in the pool July 4th weekend, I knew I struck gold.
Footwear
#10 Zutano baby booties are the only things that stay put on newborn feet. Even though the smallest size is still a little big for my newborns’ tiny feet, the snap closure kept them from falling off. I thought the price of these was a little much for baby booties, but when you think about how much you spend on baby socks (which you then lose because they fall off constantly), it’s really not bad at all. There are also some less expensive versions at places like Target that work well, but the Zutano brand holds up better in the wash and stays softer in my opinion (and comes in lots of colors and materials).
#11 The most adorable toddler shoes Amelia owns are the Mini Melissa brand. They make tons of these jelly-material shoes that look much fancier than they probably feel. Amelia got her first pair as a brand new walker and walked fine in them the very first night. One thing to keep in mind, on Amelia they seemed to run a full size smaller than other brands of shoes, and as these cost a bit more than other toddler shoes I would size up in the future so they last longer. Thankfully I have another little lady to pass those outgrown shoes to!
#12 Our favorite “sneaker” style shoe is the Native shoes brand because they’re easy for getting on and off and totally washable. I literally just rinse them off in the sink when they get nasty and they’re brand new again.
#13 The last item I’m going to include today are these Felix & Flora sandals. I love these because they’re relatively inexpensive and high quality. I hate these because they’re the first pair of shoes I bought Amelia that don’t look like baby shoes anymore but instead look like stylish big-girl sandals. Excuse me while I go cry about how quickly time passes when you have babies.
I hope y’all enjoy these products as much as I have! Here’s to toddlers that are dressed better than their mamas! As always, thanks for stopping by.
